Last week was a stressful one for me as last week was my first week truly back doing my online course, and the coursework this time around is really heavy, as I do have submissions every week. To top it off, things are getting pretty hectic at work, what with the year beginning to wrap up, and we need to start planning already for next year. As I was so busy, I wasn’t able to feel very balanced as I would push back the things that I know make me feel less insane during insanely hectic times like this. I won’t do that next time!
Last week started great, and continued to be great, what with a new exercise schedule in the morning, and cooler weather despite the fact that it now rains for an entire day. However, it really now does feel like the -Ber months have finally arrived, and that the dry season is really over.
I still can’t get over the fact that we are not just in October, but that we are in the last quarter of the year. This week saw me doing a lot of planning for both myself and for work, despite everything I do need to accomplish for work.
I can’t believe that in three weeks, I’ll actually be hitting the 30th week in quarantine. I still had to take things a little bit slow this week, but thankfully, things picked up a lot for me in the second half of the week.
I am not sure if I’ve ever mentioned it before, but ever since I was a kid, I’ve moved more than ten times; and at one point, we moved thrice within the same village. So, it’s no surprise that over the weekend, we decided to do a little rearranging and actually moved into different rooms, within our house. What nobody tells you though, is the fact that moving out of a room and into a new room is just as exhausting as moving houses.
I think I put a little bit too much pressure on myself this week towards the end of the week as compared to the previous weeks due to the fact that there were some work goals I wanted to accomplish that I was really worried about not being able to complete, which caused me a lot of stress last Thursday and Friday. Despite the work stress and some emotional outbursts during the week, this week has been a lot better as compared to recent weeks.
This week went more smoothly than I thought it would, ad I think that it was mostly because I was able to get better quality sleep, and I was able to adjust well to another new schedule. Another thing was that I did make sure that I really had things that I was able to really look forward to at the end of the week, which, in a way, did keep me going.
Even though the rainy season began in June, I’m only feeling it now because the rains have gotten stronger, as monsoon rains are really here. It’s a very different experience experiencing the two main seasons we have here stuck at home, and it certainly does have its perks, like not needing to worry about how hot and humid it will be and my shoes not getting destroyed if you have to walk a little bit around the city where I work. However, there are some things that never change, such as my seasonal allergies.
The last couple of weeks have definitely taken a toll on me, both emotionally and physically. That, combined with other not so great unexpected surprises that kept on throwing me off caused me to have mini meltdowns for around three or four days straight, which was not fun at all. Thankfully, I was able to have therapy this week, and I came out of it with more realistic goals, and a better mindset to tackle everything that will be thrown my way in the next couple of weeks. Aside from that, actually getting a lot of sleep and sleeping in a bit of Sunday helped a lot.
To be honest, that was one of the most tiring weeks I’ve had. Aside from the fact that so much has been going on, my family is now two weeks in without a household staff and with us (mostly us five children), really doing chores. We, especially me, are still adjusting, which has undeniably led to moments of frustration especially when my expectations don’t match up to reality. (In all honestly, even though the chores are divided, it’s really hard work to maintain a house that’s three stories high.)
