First off, I know that this is a week late, but HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season.
Before anything else, I know that this little blog has been running for less than two months now, going on three, but so far, the support that I’ve gotten for it has been amazing. So, to all of you out there who are reading this, subscribing and following my blog, and to those who have expressed their support for this very personal and daunting project of mine, thank you so much for all your support, it really does mean everything to me.
Before we move on ahead to what lies ahead in 2018, I would just like to take a step back a bit, and look over 2017 one last time.
Putting up this blog has been one of the biggest highlights of 2017 for me, even though I started it in November. I never thought that I would have the time and guts to do this, so when the opportunity presented itself, I just decided to take a leap of faith, and here it is.
Personally, the first half of 2017 was just more of the same. It was really in the latter half of the year that allowed me to take things more in perspective.
Before putting up this blog, I did have a brief two month stint working in an office in the city, doing social media, something that I have been doing for more than a year now. However, I discovered that office life truly isn’t for me anymore, and me realizing that I do want to take more charge of my own life, so that I can become more independent has led me to setting things up so that I can move forward with my own dreams of truly becoming a freelance writer. So, now, aside from this and my other blog, I’m currently setting up shop as a freelance writer. Hopefully, things will definitely pan out. So, I’m excited for that and other projects that I hope to accomplish as well in 2018.
For this little blog, in the last two months, I have been trying to feel my way through, and I think that now, even though there are still some rough patches that will need to be smoothed over in the months to come, I have a more concrete idea of what to do and write about here.
I am really excited about everything that is in store for 2018, especially for The Asian Aspergirl. Here are some things to look forward to this year.
Understanding Aspies- I started this one in the past two months. In this category, I will be writing about some technical terms and some things that Aspies and High Functioning Autistics experience, and try to explain it the best way I can in layman’s terms. Also, I hope to add some helpful tips for families and friends so that they can also use them, and hopefully, form better relationships with their friends of family members who are like this.
The Aspergirl’s Survival Guide– This series is made primarily for Aspies and High Functioning Autistics. Here, I usually list down around ten tips that will be helpful in various situations, all the way from parties, running errands, all the way to holiday vacations.
The Aspergirl Reviews- Here, I will be putting up reviews of books, movies and tv shows that have helped me personally, and those that attempt to represent Aspies and High Functioning Autistics in media and entertainment. (If you have any suggestions of things that I should be watching out for, or that I should watch or read, let me know!)
The Social Aspergirl- This category will contain the social challenges and goals that I have set up for myself for 2018, and I will be documenting and processing them here. It can be as random as a family reunion, to actually going out of my way to meet new people in a mixer or event.
The Healthy Aspergirl- One of my biggest resolutions for 2018 is to eat healthier and to have more exercise, which also helps one be emotionally stable. So, I’ll be documenting my attempts to be a little bit healthier, and hopefully, offer up some tips that will help others be healthier as well.
The Aspergirl’s Cosplay Chronicles- If my other blog has my step by step process on how to make the cosplay costumes I plan to wear to conventions, these blog posts will allow me to process everything I went through to get that cosplay costume done, and how everything went when I wear it at the convention I’m supposed to wear it at. I’ll also provide a step by step process as well. I think that cosplay will really help me out by allowing me to discover new things about myself, and I think that it will help me socialize more as well during cons. I would also like to try and use this as well as a means to spread awareness, and to show how empowering it can be for those with disabilities like mine.
The Aspergirl Reflects- This category is for the moments in which I want to reflect on things from before, and figure out the lessons that I learned from it so that others may learn from it as well.
I also hope to be able to conduct some interviews with places here in Manila that are PWD friendly, and to attend more local events related to these topics as well.
And that’s everything that I have planned so far for 2018! I hope that you all will continue to support me in this year’s journey!
